Lanta Old Town

Lanta Old Town is a small historical town which used to be commercial gate among China, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand and India. Notably in times of famous silk path Ko Lanta was the last stop before Phuket. Ko Lanta was last transship point for commercial ships and also reservoir of drinking water and fresh fruit. Today it is a quiet sleepy town with historical buildings built on peers which are up to 150 years old. The town is situated at the East side of island and its inhabitants are still not used to the tourism. They will watch you with a shy smile. Numerous Thai celebrations and festivals are held in Lanta Old Town. Among the most beautiful belong the Feast of Lights LOJ KRATHONG or LANTA FESTIVAL or the celebration of Thai New Year SONGKRAN. For those who love sea food it is recommended to buy fresh fish and seafood at the market. The port has an ideal boat connection to surrounding islands Ko Bu Bu and Ko Ta Labelang (around 20min sail for 1.200 THB per boat).
